Genre-Themed Book Marks

Hey all! I can't believe it is mid-August already. How does the summer fly by so fast, but the winter drags on and on? Oh well. I am headed out this morning with the kiddos for some swimming with friends. I love you sunny weather!

I created these genre-themed book marks as a PRIZE for our family challenge blog. My sister created this blog a month ago to create fun-filled family competition. It's a challenge blog of course! My sister has posted some really great challenges and will be posting more. We're all having so much fun at the Gross Family Challenge Blog.

I used A LOT of different Cricut carts on this project. That's why I love my Gypsy! I have access to all these awesome carts at the touch of my stylus. I kept the genres simple: Historical, Mystery, Romance, Humor, Political, and Travel.

I used all paper scraps from my stash. I love reusing tiny pieces of paper that otherwise would be thrown away. My detailing includes: Distress Ink, Glossy Accents, Crackle Accents, Stickles, and black/white pen.

Good luck to my family! Winning these bookmarks would be super sweet!

"You're the Best Around" Card

I made this card for my brother for his birthday. We grew up watching Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Karate Kid. So I made this card with Karate Kid in mind. I love the "pow" fist!!

And of course the words "You're the Best ... Around" come from the theme song. Gotta love 80s movies!

I welded the words together with the Blackletter Cricut cartridge. The pow and fist are from Indie Art.

Dad You're the Bomb

I have the greatest Dad in the whole wide world! He comes to the rescue when I have car trouble or house trouble. He is always the first to lend a helping hand. He is awesome with my kiddos - they just love their Papa! And he is the best guy to just talk to.

Spoiler alert Dad - you will be getting the card on Father's day. Ooops.

I tried to find one of the manliest images on my Gypsy. And I found this bomb on Indie Art. Then the rest of this card just fell into place. I cut out the DAD from Blackletter using the shadow feature. Then I welded the words "you're the" together using a Cuttin' Up font. I cut out the bomb using the shadow, blackout, and base images. The other two explosions are from Create a Critter and Mother's Day Bouquet.

I layered the images and patterned paper for interest. The paper I used was from We R Memory Keepers and Core'dinations. Then for some manly bling I added the four black brads on the top and bottom.

I added some homemade pop dots to the back of DAD to add dimension. I think my favorite part of this card is the black pop dots. You can't see them!!

The inside of the card has orange cardstock and the word "Celebrate" stamped in the corner.

Thanks Dad!!
